I've used this bento box, as a first time bento box owner, and found it a bit on the small side. I do like the box though, and have enjoyed using it. It would work fine for sandwiches, or flat lunches, but when I tried to pack rice and little octopus shaped hot dogs on the lower portion, I had to squish them down to fit. I ordered a different lunch box which is a single layer bento that is taller, and hoping it will work better. Also, I find upon use of the item, I would prefer a single layer instead of a double layer. One reason for this, is imagine you have something wet or greasy on the bottom layer, well the top layer box will have that smeared on the bottom of it, so wherever you put it you may end up getting food on stuff. I solved this by putting a piece of foil on top of the lower contents, but generally speaking, I think it is better to just put a sandwich in the bottom, or something dry, and then anything wet on the top.Samples of what I have fit in this:Bottom layer: pb & honey or fruit sandwich. Rice with hot dogsTop layer: has one large compartment with a removable small dish, as well as a lid that seals, so you could put wet items in it. In the small dish I've put fruit, dry snack, or cucumber salad, and then the larger side tamagoyaki or cheese and cucumber sticks, or dry snack.
